Will I get a CPD certificate for attending?
If you are attending one or more lectures during the week of Saturday 29th September to Saturday 6th October, you will receive a CPD certificate for your attendance. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the term used to describe the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. It enables learning to become conscious and proactive, rather than passive and reactive.
CPD combines different methodologies to learning, such as training workshops, conferences and events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques and ideas sharing, all focused for an individual to improve and have effective professional development.
You will receive your CPD certificate once the event is over. We will either post it to you via Royal Mail or send it to you via a downloadable PDF attachment on an email.
I'm an acupuncturist, but not a herbalist yet. Can I learn Jing Fang?
Yes absolutely! Jing Fang is an excellent starting point for acupuncturists who want to learn herbal medicine. Jing Fang is similar to conventional medicine whereby it assigns a formula to treat the disease, however, it delves deeper into each patient’s body constitution, 6 channels, and 8 principles to solve the roots of the problem. Jing Fang differs from TCM in the way that the method is focused on the functions of herbal formulas, rather than properties of individual herbs.
We recommend that you attend the two-day conference to give you a comprehensive insight into the world of Jing Fang from several world-class experts. Then, we strongly recommend following on with Professor Huang Huang’s 3 day course on ‘Jing Fang Body Constitution, Differentiation, and Clinical Application‘. This course is perfect for practitioners without any prior herbal knowledge, as it takes students on a step-by-step approach to learning how to assign the correct formula to each patient. Professor Huang Huang is the Dean of the Jing Fang Institute at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, and is hailed as one of the most highly regarded Jing Fang masters in the world.

Will lecture notes be available?

You will be able to take notes during all the lectures and seminars, as well as photographs. Videos and voice recordings are not permitted.
At the end of each weekend lecture, you will have the opportunity to ask questions but please refrain from doing so during the lecture, due to time constraints. However, if you are attending the weekday lectures, please feel free to ask questions throughout the sessions.
Will the sessions be taught in English?
We want to ensure this event is accessible to everyone, so we will have Chinese-English translators on hand for the lectures spoken in Chinese. In the CPD lecture series, we have designed a programme for both English and Chinese speakers. Both Professor Feng Shilun and Professor Huang Huang’s CPD courses will be spoken in Chinese and translated to English.
We are pleased to have Professor Yi Zhen Jia and Gao Zhi Hua on board as translators for this event. Professor Yi lectures on the Jing Fang module at the University of Westminster and Ms Gao is a former president of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine RCHM.
